The game's history
Scott Cawthon launched the first Five Nights at Freddy's game on August 8, 2014. He got the concept for the game after receiving comments from his previous game, the family-friendly Chipper & Sons Lumber Co. Reviewers dubbed the game "unintentionally unsettling," and the primary character, a juvenile beaver, was described as "a horrific animatronic animal." Instead of taking offense, Scott Cawthon was inspired to create an intentionally frightening game: Five Nights at Freddy's.
The game was a big success, and the independent game became a media franchise. A slew of games has been developed for Microsoft Windows, iOS, and Android. The series is centered on the story of a fictional restaurant named Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
The first three games involve the player working as a nighttime security guard checking security cameras to survive against animatronic characters.
